Another bag....

I previously posted photos of some Japanese silk that I bought a few weeks ago and I have finally got round to doing something with it!!! I made a summer bag for taking with me for my holidays in a few weeks (hopefully going somewhere hot.) I love the fabric but have to say it was a nightmare to work with as it kept fraying despite me zig zag stiching it. There are a few bits that could be better but overall am quite please with it. 2. That is really nice, I love the fabric. I have made a bag from something similar and it was a pig to work with I remember it well! Lots of swearing went on :)

  3. Wow! An awesome bag! I have some fabric similar to this and had no idea what to do with it. Still not sure if I would be brave enough to try and make a bag with it. Well done!

  7. I love that fabric & want to work with similar stuff to make a fancy night out purse. What tips do you have with working with that material. What would you do differently next time?

  8. Hi Pootle..
I've had a snip at some lovely chinese brocade fabric to make that evening purse. Took your advice of zig-zagging the edges - you weren't wromng about the fraying! I chose polyester lining material for the insides and it frays too - not as quickly as the brocade though. I'm pleased at the progress but I think I've knackered my machine asking it to sew through several layers of brocade, interfacing, lining - oh and it was pleated too! Have to finish by hand as something wrong with the bobbin & shuttle. The top thread keeps getting stuck in it!? :0( I'll show you pics when finished. Thanks for your valuable advice! :0)
